How to Remove Baby Formula Stains

Feeding a baby can get messy fast! Formula can literally get EVERYWHERE (even on the ceiling), so there’s a high likelihood of finding formula stains all over your little one’s face… and clothes! Sometimes, there’s only so much formula that actually ends up in your little one’s tummy, because when feeding from the bottle some baby formula can easily end up on your little one’s onesie or bib.

How to Remove Stains from Baby Clothes

Mealtime stains don’t have to be a laundry disaster for mom and dad. If you’re wondering how to remove stains from baby clothes when you're faced with a baby formula stain situation, look no further than Dreft.

Dreft Stage 1: Newborn Detergent is a gentle detergent that’s tough on the stains of your newborn baby’s clothes. Now you're free to enjoy feeding and other precious moments with your little angel, without worrying about the laundry.

Read our easy-to-follow guide on how to remove tough stains, with tips from start-to-finish on getting the laundry done with ease.

Stain removal steps

    • Pre-treat:

Using a bucket, sink or bowl, create a soaking solution by adding 1 ounce or 1 ½ tablespoons of Dreft per gallon of warm water. Allow the stained clothes to soak for up to 30 minutes, keeping them submerged with a white towel.
    • Dose:

Use the cap to measure the correct dose of Dreft (you’ll find this info on the bottle). Pour it into the detergent dispenser if you have a high-efficiency machine, or directly into the drum.
    • Load:

Load the clothes into the washing machine.
    • Wash:

Wash on the optimal wash cycle that you’ll find on the garment’s care label.
    • Unload:

If the stains are still there, repeat these steps. Only dry the clothes once the stain is completely removed, because drying will set any lingering stain.

As all new parents know, baby formula can be a tough stain to remove, but with Dreft washing stains out of clothes doesn’t need to be a laundry headache.

Along this beautiful journey of parenthood, you will no doubt face many other stain-removal challenges, but with Dreft Stage 1: Newborn Detergent, you will be able to easily remove grass stains and grape juice stains – and many other stains you may come across.

So, whatever messes your little one makes, know that Dreft can help get stains out of VERY messy clothes, while also helping your baby’s clothes smell less like formula and more like, well, a baby!
